What are Learning Targets???
Learning Targets serve as a time frame for students to monitor their coursework. Learning Targets serve as a tool to assist students in time management and academic accountability.
Starkweather sets up three learning target dates a semester for each class.
Each teacher will communicate what work they want completed at that time. It could be a grade, a percentage, or a specific learning target that they want students to achieve.
Absences are not an excuse for missing deadlines. Barring a prearranged or medically excused absence, if students are absent the week of the deadline, that will count as missing a deadline.
If students do not meet one of these deadlines, classroom teachers will set up an individual progress contract with the student regarding where he/she needs to be at by the next deadline.
If students do not meet the first AND second deadlines, then they will not receive credit for the class this semester. Students schedules may be altered following a conversation with your teacher. At this time, most students will be enrolled in an E2020 course.
If students do not meet the second AND third deadlines, then they will not receive credit for the class this semester. At this time, students schedules may change, however they may NOT enroll in a new E2020 course.
If students do not meet the third deadline, they will have until the week of finals to submit work for the class. If they do not have the required work complete, they will not receive credit for the class this semester. At this time, based on the progress they have shown, they will receive an E, I, or W.
